About
A website borne out of personal experience

When I had reason to travel to Thailand a number of times I started driving and needed to start learning the language better than a tourist. Searching the net for language material yielded a confusing number of courses and books ranging from dozens of dollars to even in excess of a thousand dollars.Finding a dictionary with Thai words written in our alphabet was an ordeal in itself !  Most dictionary publishers don't seem to realize some of us "farang" want to attempt Thai words also.  Searching the internet for maps yielded very little and trawling through accommodation sites was another ordeal with some not even responding to booking requests.

On my travels I spent a lot of time looking through markets and found that often after 30 minutes looking there seemed to be more of the same old same old. Often I would look in a stall and or shop and a couple of items really stood out and the rest were basically very boring. Our scarves and shawls I believe are some of the most beautiful styles available.

When my new Thai wife first came to Australia I soon realized that outside major cities, some of the Thai basic foodstuffs were hard to find so we will offer some basic Thai foodstuffs as time goes on. As you may realize, after Buddhism, the second most important religion in Thailand is food !

Before we were married I was recommended the book  "Thailand Fever". I purchased two copies and sent one off to bangkok to my fiance'. A worthwhile exercise in starting to understand each other's cultures !

Thaifoodandstuff is about eliminating a few of these searches and hassles for you.
